Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia

The Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, commonly known as Peñafrancia Basilica or Peñafrancia Church, is a major Marian pilgrimage destination in Naga, Camarines Sur, a city known as the Pilgrim City and Queen City of Bicol. Considered one of Asia's largest Marian pilgrimage sites, it is also the only basilica in the Bicol Region and enshrines a revered image of the Virgin Mary dating to 1710. The modern Our Lady of Peñafrancia Church was constructed to accommodate the growing number of devotees, with work beginning in 1976 and the church completed in 1981. In 1985, the church received the title and dignity of Basilica Minore through a decree from the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship. Today, the basilica continues to welcome pilgrims from across the Philippines and abroad, particularly during the annual Peñafrancia festivities.
